Darfur United Soccer Academy – Peace, Kicks, and Hope from i-ACT on Vimeo.

After launching a project with and for the refugees in these remote camps in eastern Chad, iACT leaves. The new refugee program leaders take on the responsibility, the challenges, and the joy of making it a success.

When creating community programs in collaboration with refugees, it is a priority for iACT to empower them to fully take on leadership and run all the activities. As humanitarian services are being cut drastically in refugee camps in eastern Chad, this is even more important. The reality is that, one day, most of the humanitarian support may vanish.

iACT comes back, and our joy is in witnessing how the programs develop and grow beyond our expectations. The Darfur United Soccer Academy in camp Goz Amer has only been operating for the last three months. In that short time, the four refugee men and women coaches have blown our minds with how they’ve created this magical space for boys and girls to find peace, kicks, and hope—at the edge of a refugee camp.
