A beautiful, celebratory day! The newest Darfur United Soccer Academy (DUSA) coaches for refugee camp Mile have been selected and they are a strong team. Athletic, focused, hilarious, and collectively wise; it was obvious by the end of our day that these four understand the full reach of the DU Soccer Academy and the ability of this program to positively impact their community.

Meet the newest DUSA coaches:

Amina, age 18

“We are so thankful for the help. I am excited for this opportunity, and I know that it will change my community, but hopefully, one day it will change my country, too.”

Tayba, age 20

“As a woman, I am really happy to be joining football with the boys. Traditionally there isn’t football for girls — I’ll tell them that now they get to be a part of football in the world.”

Haisam, age 26

“DUSA is about peace, helping, sharing and football. Football can make a difference. We will do our best to build a different community than we came from.”

“I want to thank everybody that supports the DU program from all over the world. It’s not just a men’s team but a program for children that will change the next generation of our people. I will do my best to teach children to play and also be the best people that they can be.”
