The World Cup may have ended, but this summer’s soccer festivities aren’t over yet! The Darfur United Men’s Team (DU) is less than one week away from the first-ever USA-based tryouts. Tryouts are open to experienced and skilled players 18 and older, born in Darfur, Sudan, or elsewhere to Darfuri parents or grandparents.

Traveling to the Los Angeles area from the cities of and between Portland, Maine, to Portland, Oregon, over 20 Darfuri players will be participating in tryouts, which will take place over the weekend of July 27-29. Training sessions will be led by Darfur United Head Coach Mark Hodson and include ample opportunities for players to showcase their technical and tactical skills through an array of drills and game-play. The tryout pool includes current college- and academy-level competition. Players who are added to the roster will continue to train in the U.S. and will travel and compete with the DU players currently residing in Östersund, Sweden. We are eager to add talented players and refugee leaders to our team!

The Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute is a proud sponsor of the event, providing health and wellness support for the weekend. Other sponsors include EVO SoccerMickey’s Deli, and Protime Sports.
