Darfur United Soccer Academy (DUSA) has been named on the prestigious Official Shortlist for the Beyond Sport Awards 2014 for the Sport for Social Inclusion Award supported by Barclays. From over 350 entries spanning 70 countries, DUSA has been selected as, “standout work being done to celebrate the use of sport for positive social change.” And we’re ecstatic about it!
In being Shortlisted, i-ACT is invited to attend the annual Beyond Sport Summit and Awards 2014 in Johannesburg, South Africa on October 28-30, for what Beyond Sport describes as being, “one of the most inspirational and influential events ever to occur in sport and development.” In attending the summit, i-ACT will be coming together with the world of sport, business, government and community development, to focus on how sport can unlock the power and creativity of young people across the world.
i-ACT will also have the opportunity for business mentoring, becoming members of an influential group of social entrepreneurs in the sporting sphere connected through Beyond Sport.
Thank you Beyond Sport for recognizing the Darfur United Soccer Academy and for the opportunity to collaborate with such a prestigious network of change makers. We can’t wait to share our program and approach with others, and most importantly, we can’t wait to share this honor with the DUSA coaches, leaders, and the entire refugee community in camps on the Chad-Sudan border.
